Meant to be you!

I was thinking today about our destiny...where we see ourselves...how we define ourselves. Alot of us, sometimes including myself, align ourselves with those who are famous...those who have made gains in this world that the whole world sees...but sometimes, well probably most times our gains, our rewards, all of our accomplishments and deeds are seen by few.

Does that make you lesser, unknown or unappreciated? NO, it does not. We are all put on this earth to be the best that we can be. Some of us...most of us, will not be known to many, we will accomplish our goals, deliver wishes, save souls in our own right, without the fanfare, the love of the outside or inside world. We will move mountains and no one will see it or applaud it, but it is what we do.

U are meant to be YOU for a special purpose. A purpose that God put into our lives way before you were born, or even thought of. You have a Destiny that is all your own. You have a Calling that signifies what is meant for you an all you touch. You are Special and have to listen to that calling to fulfill your Destiny.

I am no Maya Angelou.

I am not Michelle Obama.

I cannot be Hillary Clinton.

I won't sing like Nancy Wilson.

I  won't write like Walter Mosley.

I'm not Sojourner Truth.

But i take all of these great people, their lives, their lessons and i incorporate their decisions, their faith, into whatever i do...so that i can be the BEST Me possible. I continue to evolve...knowing only one thing for sure...I AM MIZ! And i have a destiny and a legacy to leave behind.

Stay in your truth.

Learn from those who left a great legacy behind.

Never deter from your path. And always, always keep God in the forefront. You can never lose, or be lost with that in mind and spirit.

You, undoubtedly were meant to be YOU, exactly, YOU!

Have a great weekend FAM!

This is a'miz'ing, you were able to express in wriiting something I also feel.

& outside of those famous, great people ... there are those regular folks in our everyday lives, [including ourselves] that empower us along our path.

&& this. "But i take all of these great people, their lives, their lessons and i incorporate their decisions, their faith, into whatever i do...so that i can be the BEST Me possible."

I Am

@B D Tramuel - yes indeed! This right here speaks the truth.

Maybe it's because I'm old and a dork; but whenever I hear someone talking about their destiny I tend to think of Darth Vader speaking to Luke Skywalker in The Empire Strikes Back.

..."Luke, you can destroy the Emperor. He has foreseen this. It is your destiny. Join me, and together we can rule the galaxy as father and son."

People choose to devalue their place in this world. It's nice to have the written reminder that it all matters and we all play a particular part that must be p,ayed to keep things moving. Who is Maya Angelou without the throngs of people who are moved by her words. Just a woman who writes. It is the collective that matters most.... The community. I hope we all find a way to effect change in all of ours in a positive manner! Sweet piece Mizo!

Lovely piece Miz! It can be tough to understand your value, but I always consider, what is the artist without fans? It is the fans who made Truth, Angekou, Obama worth a discussion. The community collective. And each of those small voices combined become quite the powerful ruckus! that is what I know. Be powerful within oneself and I'm sure you can evoke movements in your communities each day :-)

Lol! I just now read the comment modifier and realized why my comments didn't show up automatically. LOL I kept wondering if I was doing something wrong lol. A bit rusty in the blogosphere

@Reggie - lol!

I sooooooooo love this post. I mean really? How could I not! You've hit the proverbial nail on the head. It's okay to admire people for their accomplishments/success; however, they are just markers/inspirations and not reflections of ourselves; our true/authentic selves.

It took a long time for me to be happy with me and I'm so glad and happy that I now am.

@Blu - thank you lady! I hear you!

My younger self wanted to be anyone but "me."

The woman I've become...wouldn't want to be anyone but "ME!"

I earned every tear, every scar, every failure and every broken heart...it all molded me. And in the end, His clay will have perefected me. After all, I'm His Princess Bride!

Great post!

Hmm.... I left a comment here earlier this week, but now it's nowhere in sight.

I'll TRY to keep it shorter this time around:

A lot of us feel as if we aren't where we should be, or not who we're supposed to be, & that we're aren't fulfilling our truest destiny. Perhaps we're too close to our own lives & too busy living it to have a more objective view. We do what we do, and if we bring about something positive, and even in a small way, make this a better place than it was than when we entered it, I say, JOB WELL DONE, regardless of some cosmic applause or universal success.

You MATTER! I MATTER. WE MATTER MATTER.

Is it really up to us to determine our worth, our worthiness, or the importance of what we've accomplished with our time here? I think not... since we tend to be our own harshest critics.

WE MATTER.

If we aren't engaged in hurting each other, I have to believe that The Creator is pleased.

As for the rest... well, like Stevie sang: "And you can bet your life, times that and twice its double that GOD knew exactly where he wanted you to be placed."

Missed you, Sista Pen.

Happy Holidays to you & yours!

SJ!

One.
